切実なパンクソング、いやこれはロックでもいいんですが。DIYであり、社会性がある、ということとマーケット的な成功は今や全くといっていいほど無縁であります。今日ご紹介するDefiance, Ohioというグループはその名前とは裏腹にインディアナ州ブルーミントン出身のFOLK-PUNKグループで、ギター、ウッドベース、ドラムにヴァイオリン、チェロといったアコースティック楽器を中心にシンガロングで切実なパンクソングを聴かせるグループです。FOLK-PUNKというと古くは英国のPatrik FitzgeraldやBilly Bragg、そしてPoguesなどを思い起こしますが、フォークソングのパンク解釈という点ではサウンド的にこれらのアーティストにも近いのですが、彼らの姿勢や方針はCrassに代表されるアナーコパンクに近いのではないかと思います。前掲アーティスト以外にもAGAINST ME!のファンの方にもオススメのグループです！
